TCT works to ensure the Taupo CBD is protected, enhanced, promoted and a safe place to live, work and play. We liaise between Council and your business on issues including signage, parking, development and compliance.
Information
Regular newsletters, email updates and annual calendars provide updates about what is happening around town and the district.
Awards Programme
Free training on customer service, marketing, business plans and other business-related topics, and recognition for your excellence through the Stella Awards and Great Lake Taupo Business Awards.
Promotions
TCT manages a range of signature events and promotions to celebrate holidays and major events in town. The goal is to enhance the experience of locals and visitors alike while enjoying the vibrant town centre of Taupo.
Networking
TCT jointly hosts the monthly Business After 5 events, which are free to all members. TCT also partners with other organisations to bring informative speakers and networking opportunities with other business people in Taupo.
Marketing
TCT collaborates with Destination Great Lake Taupo to ensure the Taupo town centre is recognised as a boutique, unique shopping destination. Initiatives include website, facebook, print media, expos and town centre displays.

Buskers & Stalls

Towncentre Taupo manages the licences for people wishing to busk, sell raffle tickets, run a street appeal or hold a sausage sizzle in the Taupo town centre. You may have other ideas that we are happy to consider as well.
- Buskers must specify the dates they intend to perform. The maximum number of consecutive days permitted is two.
- Buskers must ensure that no one has the area booked for the same period. Please phone Towncentre Taupo on ( 07) 377 0104 to confirm availability.
- Buskers must fill in an application form. No fees are required.
At present, the main area we use for these purposes is the large public space outside Coin Save and Urban Edge on Heuheu St. There are no parking exemptions for buskers.
All applicants need to complete the Busking/Stall Holders form. You can download the application form from here or pick one up from our office. The online form will be automatically sent to us. We will confirm availability and return a signed application to you.

All businesses that operate within the Taupo central business district (as defined by Taupo District council) are by default members of Towncentre Taupo Inc. (TCT).
Each business pays a membership levy through rates paid to Taupo District Council. This levy is established each year at the TCT Annual General Meeting, and is currently $313.26 + GST per annum or $78.32 (+ GST) per quarter. Most business pay the TCT levy as part of quarterly rates. You may not see this levy directly specified in your rental agreement as your landlord may choose to combine all rates charges together on your invoice.
Towncentre Taupo maintains a database of all members, which is updated regularly and audited twice per year. If you need to update your details on the TCT database, please contact us.

Towncentre Taupo represents the interests of every business in Taupo's central business district. All such businesses, as defined by Taupo District Council, are, by default, members of TCT. Our primary aim is to promote the development of Taupo's town centre as a safe and vibrant community balancing social, environmental and economic needs while retaining its unique identity.
Towncentre Taupō (TCT) became an incorporated society in 2005. It is funded by a special annual rate or a levy which is paid by members through rates to Taupō District Council. This rate is returned to TCT to cover expenses, business development and promotion initiatives within the town centre.
Executive Board and Management Team
Towncentre Taupo is governed by an elected Executive Board who undertake governance duties for TCT. There is a constitution that provides a framework under which we operate. The Executive Board have a range of duties and obligations they must adhere to and must observe the conflict of interest policy. The board meet on a monthly basis and TCT members are welcome to attend board meetings.

After being born and raised in Taupo, I have developed a real love of this place. The Town Centre is the heart of Taupo and there is nothing like seeing the town bustling on a Saturday morning. I would love to see more days like this and believe Taupo has all the attributes, as a place to live and visit, to make this happen.

I was born and bred in Taupo and have always called it home. With real estate in my blood, I returned to Taupo nine years ago to join the family firm at Westerman Property Solutions, a company operating in Taupo for over 50 years. I am passionate about driving business and industry to Taupo.

I moved to Taupo at the tender age of 17 and have lived here for 27 years (with 10 years away in Australia). In that time I have seen many changes occur within the town centre. I am extremely passionate about Taupo and the Taupo Town Centre. I love the buzz in town when events are on and the excitement of the community and visitors.

I came to Taupo in 2000 when my husband Des and myself purchased the McDonald's Restaurant here. I love Taupo with a passion and firmly believe that Taupo is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
I was on the first TCT board for a number of years and am really pleased to be back 'on board' again alongside an equally passionate and diverse working group who hold the same cornerstone values and ideals for the wellbeing and vibrancy of our township and community. I believe it is important to give back to this town what it gives to me.

Taupo is such a diverse and exciting place to live, and I have a passion for outdoor activities such as mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing and water sports. Could there be anywhere better to combine all these activities at my doorstep, all while being a safe environment to raise a family?
Having the ability to encourage change and invest time into making my town more progressive and a complete destination is an opportunity created by volunteering for Towncentre Taupo, and I can’t see myself living anywhere else! The TCT Board is a forward thinking group of people that can benefit all business in Taupo, hopefully, including my own.

Taupo is a great place to do business. We have undergone many changes in the last few years with lots of projects finishing and the new E.T.A. It is now the time to stamp our place on the map and I hope to help out as best as I can by joining the Towncentre Taupo board this year.

I have previously worked for The Hub with my time divided between Destination, Enterprise and Towncentre Taupō and spent the last 8 years working for Mediaworks, dealing with a lot of businesses on a day to basis, giving me an understanding of the challenges out there! Taupō has a vibrant CBD, and I absolutely love living, working and being part of the community and really helping Towncentre Taupō to engage with the businesses to keep our CBD flourishing!

We love seeing our members dishing out amazing service, looking after the environment, offering unique products and serving great food! Towncentre Taupo is pleased to announce the Superstar Award, sort of the younger cousin of the Spark Stella Awards.
Each month we will recognise a person or business that has been spotted doing something superstar worthy for their customers. Winners will be announced on More FM and celebrated on Facebook.
Towncentre Taupo and the Taupo Chamber of Commerce and Industry together deliver the Great Lake Taupo Business Awards and the Spark Stella Awards for Excellent Customer Experience. Both programmes are free and open to all businesses in Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino.
